Description

Arabic club in Slovenia was established in February 1992 as a cultural association and is headquartered in Ljubljana. The club's goal is to connect all Slovenian citizens of Arabic origin in order to take care for the preservation of Arabic culture and to promote integration of Arabic culture with Slovenian culture. Club members come from many Arabic countries, are of different religions and are mainly graduates from Slovenian universities.

The club organizes cultural and social gatherings of members and guests as well as evenings of Arabic culture in collaboration with eminent cultural institutions. On those evenings, we try to present the Arabic music and folk dance.

The Arabic club has organized in collaboration with City museum of Ljubljana “Exhibition of the Arabic ethnic minority in Slovenia” with different events.

The Arabic club has been organizing in the last years also cultural events in Cultural center “Španski borci” for wide public in Ljubljana.

In order to strengthen ties with Arabic culture, Club has been organizing the Arabic language school for members' children for many years. The club also organizes art exhibitions by Arabic artists living in Slovenia, in Ljubljana, Maribor and in other cities. Evenings of Slovenian and Arabic poetry are organized at the headquarters of the Club, where also Slovenian poets are kindly invited. An amateur youth dance and music folklore group Sausan also operates within the Club, which aim is to keep the tradition of Arabic folklore dances. There is also an "Arabian Library" available at the Club where one can borrow books of different genres. The club organizes up to five major events annually. These events are mostly related to the Arabic holidays and from time to time also days of Arabic cuisine are organized along with cultural content.
